What is being adjusted? One bus route is being eliminated (Bus #3 Route), so we will have six routes instead of seven To accommodate this change, a small number of riders on some buses will have their route adjusted to distribute the riders across all routes equitably Why are adjustments being made? Our buses currently have lower-than-expected ridership Multiple buses are currently running about half full Bus routes are running rather short times, with some as short as 35-40 minutes This will be more efficient and result in cost savings for the school district This change will also ease overall long term staffing shortages of bus drivers When will the change occur? The adjusted bus routes will go into effect the morning of Monday, December 1st (the first day after Thanksgiving Break) How will this affect my student? Rider times across all bus routes should be more even after this change We expect an average increased ride time of approximately 15 minutes for most routes Buses will not be overcrowded. They are all currently running well below capacity Most buses will add an average of 3-5 new stops to their routes Bus #7 route will not be changed, as it is the fullest and longest bus route currently How will I find out information about a potential change for my student? By November 24th, you should get a phone call from your child’s bus driver (or new bus driver) notifying you of the anticipated pick up time for your child on their adjusted route This will be the same procedure we use in August when routes are initially created Contact your child’s school office if you do not get a call by November 24th What if I have other questions?
