Mr. Pettersen’s 5th-grade class took their science lesson outside for a fizzy, explosive good time with the classic Coke and Mentos experiment!
Our young scientists learned firsthand about chemical reactions, gas formation, and pressure — all while having an absolute blast (literally!). 😄🍬🥤
Hands-on learning like this brings science to life, and the excitement was sky-high—just like those soda geysers! 🌈✨
Way to go, 5th graders! Keep asking questions, getting messy, and exploring the world around you! 🔬🧪👩🔬👨🔬

In honor of Fire Prevention Week, our students got a special visit from our local fire department! They loved checking out the fire truck, watching the water get sprayed, asking lots of important questions, meeting the firefighters, and learning all about fire safety.
It was a fun and educational day — and a great reminder of how important it is to be prepared and stay safe. 🙌
Huge thanks to our hometown heroes for spending the day with us! ❤️
As part of Fire Prevention Week, our students showed off their creativity in a Fire Safety Coloring Contest — and who better to judge the masterpieces than our very own local firefighters? 👨🚒👩🚒
The firefighters carefully looked through each colorful entry and hand-picked the winners — not an easy task with so many amazing submissions! 🖍️👏
Congratulations to all our participants for their hard work and to the winners for their outstanding artwork! Eva Blomberg, Evelyn Barney, Henry Laursen, Jameson Jarchow, Killian Reindahl, Oliver Leonard, Harlee Emerson, Liam Strobach, Zeke Symalla, Gauge Mickelson. Emelia Babcock, Tauge Perillo, Evelyn Strobach, Makayla Reindahl, Myra Symalla, and overall poster winner Evelyn Strobach.

The 6th grade class had the opportunity to attend the 2025 Barron County Sixth Grade Conservation Tour on October 3rd. Students learned 3 ways to identify healthy waterways, how to conserve and retain our soil resources, how the state is maintaining wetland resources for wildlife to flourish, what a shoreline habitat is, and how to protect it, and the importance of maintaining our forest resources. Thank you to Barron County and Rachel Ault for the invitation, Tom Aasmundud and Craig Moriak for transportation, Amanda Teed and Sandy Beckerman for making student lunches, and Janette Cain, Nathan Dhuey, Justin Everson, Pat Brown, Tyler Gruetzmacher, and Bronson Thalacker for setting up hands-on activities for our students.

On Saturday, September 20th, a group of CLSD staff members joined together for a good cause. They formed a team for the Polk County Suicide Awareness Walk and participated in the 5k event! Additional staff members made generous donations for the team as well.
The event featured a 5k run/walk, guest speakers, live music, food trucks, and a dove release ceremony.
It was a wonderful opportunity to show support for our students, communities and families. Together we can make a difference.
We are Clear Lake Warriors! 🤍

Then it was off to Glenwood Orchard in Glenwood City for an afternoon of hands-on learning! Students explored the orchard, learned how apple cider is made (with a yummy taste test!), picked their own apples, and made a sweet apple craft to take home.
So much fun, so many smiles — what an a-peel-ing day! 🍏❤️

Yesterday, we proudly recognized and celebrated the hardworking custodians of the Clear Lake School District who keep our schools clean, safe, and running smoothly every single day.
From early mornings to late nights, our custodial team goes above and beyond to create a welcoming environment for students, staff, and families. Whether it's shining floors, fixing a leaky faucet, or setting up for events, they do it all with dedication and care. 💪✨
To our custodians: THANK YOU. Your work may often be behind the scenes, but it never goes unnoticed. Tom Aasmundrud, Mike Norris, Dave Reindahl, Corey Scott, Tanya McCarthy, Stephanie Norris, and Brenda Ray. 💙
