We are honored that our elementary school counselor, Jami Van Heuklom, presented a breakout session at the Wisconsin School Counselor Association (WSCA) state conference in the Wisconsin Dells last week. Jami and her sister, Jeni Donath, who is the school counselor in the Clayton School District, had many attendees at their session titled Enhancing Progress with Play: Interactive Classroom and Small Group Activities. Congratulations, Jami, for being chosen to share your expertise!

Dear Warrior Families,
At this time, we are aware that some of our local families may be experiencing economic stress or challenges related to food security, particularly as it relates to potential concerns about benefits like FoodShare WI, SNAP/food-assistance, or other federally-backed programs. We want to help by reminding folks of other potential local supports, such as the ones below.
SCHOOL DISTRICT FREE & REDUCED-PRICE MEALS
We provide breakfast and lunch for eligible students. Confidential applications can be completed at any time and are available in District offices and on our website under the “Foodservice Tab”, or one can be sent home with your student(s). For questions or assistance with the school meal program, contact Joy Nordby: jnordby@clwarriors.org or call 715-263-2114 Ext. 1107.
Students certified for free or reduced-price meals retain their eligibility for the entire school year plus up to 30 operating days into the next school year, regardless of household income changes.
Students who qualified for free meals based on FoodShare participation will continue to be eligible for free meals.
Federal employees affected by furloughs may submit a Free and Reduced Meal Application based on their current household income, which may temporarily be zero.
WEEKEND BACKPACK NUTRITION PROGRAM
Together with the Salvation Army and other community resources, we offer the Weekend Backpack Nutrition Program. Any family with a child in the district can register for the Backpack Program. A backpack or shopping bag filled with staple food items including coupons for bread and milk will be distributed to your school age child at the end of each week. This is a confidential program and no personal information will be shared with the Salvation Army or the volunteers packing them. A registration form is available at the Elementary School. Or contact Elementary School Counselor, Jami Van Heuklom jvanheuklom@clwarriors.org with questions.
LIFELINE FOOD PANTRY - CLEAR LAKE
Lifeline Food Pantry is located at the Community Center at 560 5th Street in Clear Lake. Hours are every Wednesday 1-5, and every Thursday 10-2. 715-263-3846

This week, three of our students: Carli Cress, Joshua Forsblade, and Riley Gagner attended the UW– River Falls Day of Music event!
This event gives students interested in pursuing music or music education a chance to experience what life is like as a college music student. Students sat in on music classes and rehearsals, learned about college life, and even had an individual lesson with a UWRF faculty member.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to explore their musical interests and see what the next step in their journey could look like!

Hi Everyone! My name is Tonya Dix. I live with my husband in Clear Lake. We enjoy hiking, canoeing, gardening and snowshoeing. I also enjoy creating multi-media collage art. I was a 13 year student at Clear Lake and now I'm working as a Special Education Paraprofessional. I have over 20 years working with kids as a preschool teacher, a nanny in TN and CA and as a cottage parent at a children's home on St. Croix Island, USVI. I'm excited to be a Warrior again and working with Clear Lake students and staff!

Attendance is a superpower! Use it. #BePresent #AttendanceMatters

🌎 Warriors Making a Difference! ♻️
Before school yesterday morning, students from NHS, FFA, and FCCLA volunteered alongside the Clear Lake Lions Club to sort and bag 84 pounds of clean plastic for recycling.
The recycled plastic collected through this program is transformed into benches for our community - and Clear Lake has already received two benches thanks to these ongoing efforts.
We're so proud of our students for demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and community spirit. 💙

Clear Lake Senior Lydia Buhr is officially a published author! She's written and published her first article as an FFA in the USA Reporter. Great Work Lydia! https://www.ffa.org/ffa-in-the-usa/emily-johnson-living-to-serve/

Thank you to Clear Lake Police Chief Paul Houx and Polk County Sheriff's Department Lead Investigator Jason Hickok for visiting the Forensic Science class as guest speakers. Students learned how digital imaging is used to capture evidence in a three-dimensional model and had the opportunity to experiment with dusting and lifting fingerprints.

🔨☕️ Local Adventures!
What a day exploring our town!
Our field trip kicked off at True Value with a fun scavenger hunt—students quickly learned the store layout and got creative making monsters! 👾
Then, it was a sweet treat at Kate's Coffee Koop! We learned about their local sourcing and enjoyed a great time with Italian sodas and stories. Teachers enjoyed some yummy coffee, too!
Thank you to our wonderful local businesses for a great day!

The Clear Lake School District places high value not only on academics but character as well. Each month the elementary school awards students who exemplify Warrior traits in and out of the classroom. Here are our October recipients for Academics and Character: David Sather, Henry Schneider, Vera Anderson, Grace Meyers, Izabella Hubbard, Alice Thielke, Marta Dennee, Chloe Lutz, Madeline Miller, Kylea Nelson, Emma Trepanier, Hudsyn Elwood, Boone Friendshuh, Hazel Knowlton, Ceci Babcock, and Lucas Harer. The staff got wrapped up in some Halloween fun! 👻 The competition was fierce, but a big congratulations goes out to the winning team: Mr. Komanec and Mrs. Groth! They expertly used just two rolls of toilet paper to wrap up Mr. Pettersen and claim the title for the most impressive mummy.

Psychology students recently completed a Maze Experiment, collecting data as part of their unit on Statistics.

Special thanks to the Seventh-day Adventist Church for dropping off some back to school supplies and a generous check. Pictured are Alice Garrett and Principal Anderson. We are always so appreciative of how the community supports our school.
